Congratulations MRS. DEEPTHI RAO MALPALLY from USA for being selected as a finalist of Mrs India International Queen 2024! Let’s know more about her. We interviewed Mrs. Deepthi and here are her amazing answers:

Name: Deepthi Rao Malpally

Profession: Mechanical Engineer

Qualification: M.S in Mechanical Engineering

Location: Greater Boston Area, Massachusetts, USA

Strengths: I consider myself an opportunist with a consistently positive perspective on life. Embracing change and stepping out of my comfort zone has been a recurring theme in my journey, shaping me into a resilient, fearless individual with a strong determination to achieve success.

Weakness: While thinking forward can be beneficial for future, overthinking leads to unfounded assumptions and heightened anxiety. I actively remind myself to stay present and guard against overthinking, ensuring that I remain grounded in the current moment.

Likes: Even though I lack a formal dance training, I find immense joy in dancing to Bollywood music. In the past I have participated in several college cultural fests and presently I am continuing my enthusiasm by being a member of a small dance group called Mansi Arts, located in New Jersey. Furthermore, my husband and I share a deep love to travel and we prioritize taking at least two vacations a year.

Dislikes: I dislike procrastination, disorderliness and laziness.

Tell us about your family:

My family is at the center of my life, providing me with both immense joy and occasional challenges. Alongside my loving husband, we are blessed with a delightful 3.5-year-old daughter who fills our days with laughter and wonder. While our family unit is a source of unwavering support and happiness, we also navigate the unique dynamics of occasionally living with my extended family. This arrangement, while filled with moments of warmth and shared experiences, can present its fair share of challenges. However, it’s within these challenges that we continue to learn, grow and strengthen our bonds, reminding us that family is a complex tapestry woven with love and understanding.

Quotes that keep you going, motivate you:

  • Do not get upset with people or situations, both are powerless without your reaction – Buddha
  • Cleanliness is next to Godliness
  • Success is not final; failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts – Winston Churchill

Achievements/anything you are proud of:

Whether it’s taking on the role of a house prefect during my school days or earning recognition as a dependable engineer in my professional career, I view achievements as any challenge successfully conquered. Here are a few instances that stand out:-
1. One of my most notable achievements was gaining admission to Utah State University for my MS program. I was the only female student from India in my department who wasn’t an IIT graduate at the time. My performance paved the way for two of my college juniors to be admitted to the same department the following year.
2. During my college years at KSIT Bangalore, I was among the top 5 students to graduate with distinction across all departments.
3. I consider the ability to juggle a demanding full-time job while returning home to care for my energetic young child as a significant achievement. It leaves me with immense satisfaction that I can do it all with a little support and love from my caring family.

In addition to these accomplishments, I’ve also achieved success in various athletic and swimming competitions and occasionally indulge in playing badminton as a leisure activity.

What is Women Empowerment to you?

In a nutshell, women’s empowerment entails providing women with ample opportunities, resources, and responsibilities to nurture their growth, pursue their dreams, and achieve their aspirations based on their skills and talents.

It is unfortunate that society continues to perpetuate gender biases when it comes to making career choices and managing family dynamics. In many instances, women are often forced to take a backseat due to outdated traditions that are no longer relevant in today’s world. In some middle-class families, girls are educated primarily with the aim of securing a good marital match.

In the present era, women are equally capable of making significant contributions to society in fields such as science, technology, philosophy, and sports. Ensuring that opportunities are granted based on merit and ability rather than gender is essential for the comprehensive development of society. In my view, this encapsulates the essence of women’s empowerment.

Message for the Society:

Since the platform today is all about women empowerment, I greatly appreciate the motto: “Be Strong, Be Confident, Be You”. I want to emphasize on how important it is to self-care. Regardless of one’s gender, it’s crucial to engage in activities that bring genuine joy, that invigorate and bring happiness. I firmly believe that sacrificing your dreams or aspirations in the name of family or career will result in a perpetual state of discontent. It’s essential to pursue something that brings personal happiness, as this not only fosters your own well-being but also enables you to radiate happiness. A happy environment is a healthy one, and this serves as the foundation for a multitude of positive outcomes, including empowerment and growth, ultimately contributing to the development of a forward-thinking society.

How will you give back to the society after becoming a Queen?

Should I win this pageant and be crowned the Queen, it would not only reaffirm the notion that dreams can indeed become a reality but also open up a wealth of opportunities. As a Queen, I would possess a platform and a voice. Combining this influence with my background as a mechanical engineer, a field where women are not widely represented, I would actively contribute to the cause of women’s empowerment in various capacities. Be it bringing awareness to men about all the under noticed sacrifices their women are doing or helping them realize the need to give women in their family some “me time”, this maybe a small start but will eventually build strong women and composed families.

This journey might commence on a local level, perhaps at events where I have the opportunity to introduce myself and convey the message of the importance of self-prioritization, a practice that can contribute significantly to mental well-being and inner contentment. My hope is that this message resonates with individuals, inspiring them to rekindle their dreams or listen more closely to their inner voices, which may have been overlooked for far too long.

Furthermore, I aspire to find opportunities within my community to serve people in any way necessary. I am eager to learn and open to embracing change, and if the chance arises for me to make a substantial difference in someone’s life, I am committed to pursuing it relentlessly. Challenges invigorate me, and I am driven to see them through to their successful resolution.

Why have you participated in Mrs India International Queen?

I have always had a deep affection for the stage, whether it be dancing, acting in plays, or simply hosting events. I attended one of Bangalore’s well-known Anglo-Indian schools, where I had abundant chances to shine on stage. Little did I realize that my true passion lay in these cultural festivals? I was consistently chosen for almost every event, but due to my dedication to education, I might have missed some opportunities to pursue a career in soft skills.

Since my move to the United States in 2011, I struggled to return to the stage while pursuing my education. While doing my master’s program, I participated in a photoshoot for a friend’s project, and I discovered my love for being in front of the camera and on stage, showcasing my best self. That’s when I realized that opportunities don’t come knocking unless you actively seek them. I don’t possess any extraordinary talent or skill set, apart from my passion for being on stage and giving my best to any task I undertake. Shortly afterward, I had the chance to participate in a dance program at a Diwali event, surrounded by immense talent.

Later, after getting married and living in separate states from my husband, I had to relocate several times to finally be together. Amidst all of this, the challenges of the pandemic, and becoming a mother, it felt like all doors were closing on my beloved pursuit. I discovered Mansi Arts through friends, which exposed me to incredibly talented individuals. I noticed a common thread among everyone – they were getting caught up in the routine of life, allowing it to consume them unless they made a conscious effort to make a difference and engage in something that made them feel truly alive.

This rekindled my long-lost desire to participate in pageants and fashion shows, leading me to Mrs India International Queen. With the wonderful opportunity to express my views on women’s empowerment, combined with an exposure to go above and beyond while fully embracing my passion and hoping that my journey inspires my daughter someday, I am honored to be one of the finalists at Mrs India International Queen 2024.
