Tell us about your family:
I was born into a beautiful and educated family, with both of my parents working as government employees. I have an elder sister who is a talented Hindustani classical singer.
I got married into a large family, where my in-laws run a family business. My husband is an entrepreneur and a fitness coach.
Quotes that keep you going, motivate you:
- Stay positive, knowing that everything will happen in time. Never give up.
- Concentrate to achieve the goals.
- Don’t listen to people who doubt your achievements.
- With your hard and smart work, show people who you are.
- We cannot solve problems with the same thinking that created them.
- Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today.
- You can’t be that kid standing at the top of the waterslide, overthinking it; you have to take the plunge.
Achievements/Anything you are proud of yourself:
I have been working as a yoga therapist for the past 10 years. During this time, I encountered many patients suffering from various health issues, and seeing their struggles deeply affected me. I told myself that I had to do something to help them.
I began offering one-on-one therapy sessions, and to my surprise, their health started improving. The praise and recommendations I received were beyond what I could have imagined.
Helping people through yoga therapy fills me with pride, knowing that I am giving something back to humankind.
I also work with NGOs, teaching yoga to orphaned children and visiting old age homes to share the benefits of yoga with the elderly.
What is women empowerment according to you?
Women’s empowerment is not just a buzzword, it is the ability of a woman to think freely, make her own decision and have the opportunities and support needed to showcase her talent.
It is about creating an ecosystem where she doesn’t have to ask for what should already be hers — equality, respect and independence.
True empowerment begins the day we shift our mindset from protection to progress, from awareness to action. Only then we can claim that women are truly empowered.
Message for the society:
For me there are two topics which should be highlighted in the society:
Hygiene – Women hygiene is very important. They need to focus on the intimate area, body cleanliness and menstrual hygiene. It also involves safe drinking water, improved toilets, counselling on hand washing and other safe hygiene practices.
Unfortunately, most of them, especially those living in rural areas, face many restrictions that limits their hygiene. During menstruation these restrictions becomes much more severe, preventing them from participating in many aspects of social life.
Mental Health – There is a research that says:
53% of women who have mental health problems have experienced abuse. 78% of women have faced physical and sexual violence, both in childhood and adulthood. And have threatening traumas.
26% of young women experience common mental health such as anxiety and depression, almost three times more than men.
To empower women, we need to work on Hygiene and Mental Health too.
How will you give back to society after becoming a Queen?
As I’m a Yoga Therapist, I will ensure that children, young and old people are in good health. As becoming the Queen (Mrs India International Queen) I will take it further and do some more research on health and (as I told earlier that I’m already involved in NGO’s) join some more NGO’s which will help me to reach out for more people.
Further will also work on girls education and health.
Why have you participated in Mrs India International Queen?
I have participated in Mrs India International Queen to win the title. It always been my dream to participate in a beauty pageant and get recognition at a greater level. This pageant will provide me with a unique opportunity to grow personally. It will open lots of opportunities for me which will ultimately help me to grow. It will also help me to advocate issues such as helping women who are disadvantaged in society, education for poor children, saving the environment and helping older people in need.
