Profession: Assistant Professor

Qualification: M.Sc. (Agriculture), Ph.D.; Specialization in Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology

Location: Karnataka

Strengths: Sincerity, hard work and determination.

Weakness: I get upset and angry when the system around me goes wrong. I should learn diplomacy in my work culture.

Likes: I like dancing, Carnatic music, painting, reading books, gardening and artworks.

Dislikes: I dislike the people who show hatred and jealousy towards others.

 

Tell us about your family:

I am married and my husband is also a teacher. I have a son who is a teenager and is doing his 12th grade. I live in a joint family with my in-laws.

Achievements/ Anything you are proud of yourself:

  • I am a recognized academician and a researcher specialized in Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology, with a focus on enhancing crop resilience and productivity.
  • My primary research interests include Nanotechnology and focuses extensively on abiotic stress tolerance, specifically exploring how increasing root growth can help plants withstand environmental challenges.
  • I have contributed to several high-impact research papers in journals such as Current Science, Plant Biotechnology, Plant Science etc. I have conducted research on advanced techniques like post-transcriptional gene silencing using viral vectors.
  • I have attended various conferences, seminars, symposiums and training programs held at national and international levels such as Texas, USA and Kathmandu, Nepal.
  • I have also been honoured with various awards and recognitions for my contribution in the field of Agriculture such as the Outstanding Woman Researcher in Crop Physiology at the VIWA 2025 (Venus International Women Awards), Global Young Women Scientist Award 2024 awarded by Agricultural Technology Development Society (ATDS) Ghaziabad, UP and Best Indian Golden Personality Award 2025 from Friendship Forum of India, New Delhi.

 

What is Women Empowerment according to you?

According to me it is breaking down all stereotypes that women have been holding all through the generations, and becoming financially independent. This brings confidence and courage to put her next step out to any field of her choice.

 

Message for the society:

The change does not happen overnight; It’s a very slow and long-term process. As a teacher myself, I would certainly strive to motivate students to keep the environment clean and safe. Work hard to succeed without losing your values and ethics and plant more trees.

 

How will you give back to society after becoming a Queen?

Becoming a Queen would be a transformative shift from a private life to a platform of service. My focus would be on using that influence to create lasting, systemic change rather than just symbolic gestures. I would like to work on uplifting women in secondary agriculture by introducing small businesses, traditional crafting which would contribute to the global economy.

Participating in Mrs India International Queen is not just for winning the crown but for my transformation and self-discovery of another side of myself. This pageant gives me an opportunity to prove that beauty and brains can go hand in hand.
